I have been involved in dog obedience training since 1976, training my first dog; an OES mix to the novice level. As an active member of the Dog Obedience Training Club of Rochester NY from 1980 thru 1990, I served as a club officer, trial trophy chairman and obedience instructor. In search of more precise and motivational training methods; I attended obedience seminars from competitive instructors such as Diane Bauman, Ruth Rosbach, the Volhards, Janet Lewis, Janice DeMello and Sandra Ladwig, to name a few.
In 1992 I became a student of Debra Zappia and have remained her student gaining unparalleled knowledge and skill for high level AKC obedience and USA Schutzhund competition. I have had many years of training with Gene England, a tremendous tracking and police dog trainer; learning how to read a dogs tracking behavior and instill a strong foundation for high level Schutzhund style tracking.
In the past, I have instructed 4H dog obedience for Wayne County NY. Currently, I have several private students and ongoing group competition obedience classes. I am a member of The United Schutzhund Clubs of America and The Empire Working Dog Club. I savor the relationship and bond I develop with my own dogs as we explore learning together. Helping others to realize their dogs fullest potential is also a very gratifying experience!
